Italy healthcare and infrastructure updates
Various healthcare and infrastructure developments are underway across Italy. In Feltre, a €32 million project begins at the Dalla Palma pavilion to improve seismic safety and energy efficiency over four years. The hospital will remain operational 24/7, with most seismic reinforcements installed externally to minimize disruption.
In Agrigento, the Asp has appointed Salvatore Gallo as interim director of the emergency department following the resignation of the previous head. This move aims to address critical organizational issues and reduce wait times through increased staffing and expanded bed capacity. Meanwhile, the Piemonte Hospital in Messina will suspend emergency room services from August 31 to October 11 for urgent maintenance on operating blocks and cardiology units, with patients redirected to nearby facilities.
Emergency services are facing other challenges, including reports of an assault on a 118 medical team in Torricella and increased call volumes in Lazio due to heatwaves. On the transport front, Ferrovie Appulo Lucane (FAL) will restore full rail service between Bari and Grumo Appula on August 31 following summer maintenance works.
