FESIMUBO unions block Buenos Aires roads over wage demands

Municipal unions from nine districts in the northern Buenos Aires suburbs, organized under FESIMUBO, conducted a traffic blockade at the intersection of Panamericana and Route 197 to demand wage increases and improved working conditions.

Representatives from San Isidro, San Fernando, Tigre, José C. Paz, Malvinas Argentinas, San Miguel, Pilar, Vicente López, and San Martín participated in the protest. Key demands include “dignified salaries,” an end to labor precariousness, and concerns regarding the financing of the IOMA and IPS institutes.

Additionally, the federation is calling for the convening of the Municipal Employment Council to facilitate collective bargaining. Union leaders stated that the protest is part of a “total, permanent, and prolonged” struggle, and they intend to continue measures of force until the Buenos Aires provincial government and the Ministry of Labor provide a response.
