Festa do Avante! features Madeira delegation as Palestinian groups absent

The 50th edition of the Festa do Avante! is taking place from September 4 to 6 in Atalaia, Seixal. The Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) has announced that the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which is classified as a terrorist organization by the European Union, will not be present at the event because it has not “reunido condições” (met the necessary conditions). Other components of the Palestine Liberation Organization, including Fatah and the Palestinian People's Party, will also be absent.

In contrast, a significant delegation of over 150 people from the Madeira Regional Organization of the PCP will attend. The Madeira pavilion will serve as a cultural and social hub, showcasing the region's traditions, gastronomy, and heritage. Beyond cultural representation, the delegation aims to use the space to voice the concerns and demands of workers and the population of Madeira and Porto Santo.
