Festa do Livro de Belém held at Palácio de Belém

The 9th edition of the Festa do Livro de Belém is taking place in the gardens of the Palácio de Belém from September 17 to 20. The event features a book fair with over 300 publishing brands across 123 stalls, organized in collaboration with the Associação Portuguesa de Editores e Livreiros (APEL) and BLX – Bibliotecas de Lisboa.

President António José Seguro opened the event and expressed his intention to continue the initiative originally established by his predecessor, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. During his opening remarks, Seguro emphasized the importance of literacy, stating that a nation that reads is more cultured, free, and capable of making better choices. He issued a direct appeal to the public to read.

The cultural program includes tributes to writers António Lobo Antunes and Álvaro Cassuto, as well as musical performances by artists such as Katia Guerreiro, Vitorino Salomé, ÁTOA, NAPA, and GNR. Entry to the event is free.
