Festival do Rio features award-winning actress and filmmaker

The 28th Festival do Rio features several notable cultural highlights. Portuguese actress Maria João Bastos, winner of the Globo de Ouro for Best Actress for her role in the Portuguese remake of 'Páginas da Vida', is participating in the festival.

Additionally, American filmmaker Beth de Araújo is presenting the Latin American premiere of her Sundance award-winning film, 'Josephine'. The film, which won both the grand jury prize and the audience award at Sundance, explores themes of childhood trauma and witness through the eyes of a young girl.

In local theater, the award-winning production 'Stabat Mater' by Janaina Leite remains on display at the Instituto Capobianco until October 3. The play, which won a Shell Prize for Dramaturgy, explores the intersections of maternity and sexuality.
