Brazil hosts major film and gastronomy festivals
Brazil is hosting several major cultural and culinary events in 2026. The 28th edition of the Festival do Rio will run from October 1 to 11, featuring 44 films. The festival is expanding its reach through a new partnership with the Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), offering free programming at the FGV Cultural Center in Botafogo, including 19 films and outdoor cinema sessions. Additionally, the Reserva Cultural in Niterói will host exclusive screenings, including the film ‘Feito Pipa’, which is a contender for the 2027 Oscars.
In the culinary sector, the 16th edition of Rio Gastronomia is taking place at the Jockey Club Brasileiro until October 4. The festival features over 40 restaurants and live musical performances. The event also hosted the Rio Show Gastronomy Awards, where Juliana Magioli of Alloro al Miramar was named ‘Chef Revelação’ (Breakthrough Chef).
