Festival Orígenes returns to Bogotá to showcase indigenous sounds

The second edition of Festival Orígenes will take place in Bogotá from August 26 to 29, 2026. Organized by the Instituto Distrital de las Artes (Idartes), the event focuses on the musical and cultural expressions of indigenous peoples from Colombia and Latin America under the theme ‘Sonidos que atraviesan el tiempo’ (Sounds that traverse time).

All concerts and forums are free of charge. The festival will be held across several strategic locations in the city, including the Planetario de Bogotá, the Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, Plaza de Lourdes, and the La Media Torta open-air theater.

In addition to musical performances, the event includes academic activities scheduled from August 24 to 27. These sessions will feature local experts and knowledge keepers leading discussions on the preservation of native languages and the intergenerational transmission of traditional wisdom.
