Feyenoord fan firework violence causes permanent hearing damage

One victim of firework violence involving Feyenoord fans during a match against SC Cambuur has suffered permanent hearing damage. SC Cambuur general director Jesse Bergsma reported that a 41-year-old man sustained hearing loss comparable to that of a 70-year-old.

Seven victims in total were identified, with injuries ranging from minor wounds to permanent hearing impairment. In response to the incident, SC Cambuur has filed a formal complaint, and Feyenoord is identifying dozens of individuals who may face stadium bans.

As a precautionary measure during the ongoing investigation, the mayor of Leeuwarden decided to bar FC Twente fans from attending the upcoming match. Bergsma stated that the club is implementing extra security measures to maximize safety following the incident.
