Mexico and Costa Rica report violent crime and missing persons investigations

In Mexico, an armed attack against agents of the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) in Almoloya de Juárez resulted in the death of federal agent Marco Antonio. During a field operation in San Agustín Altamirano, gunmen opened fire on the personnel, leading to a shootout. Three suspects—identified as Ismael “N”, Rubén “N”, and Darío “N”—were apprehended by a coordinated security force including the Navy and local police.

Separately, the Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco collective has challenged the FGR regarding investigations at Rancho Izaguirre in Teuchitlán. The group reported finding bone fragments and charred clothing on the property's periphery, contradicting official stances regarding claims of mass incinerations in the area.

In Costa Rica, the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) conducted a large-scale search operation at a property in Guácimo, Limón, to locate the remains of at least 10 missing persons from the Pococí and Guácimo regions. While agents used specialized canine units to search seven dwellings, the OIJ reported that the operation concluded without finding human remains or mass graves. Authorities did, however, seize an AR15 rifle and methamphetamine during the raid.
