FGR destroys tons of illegal goods and dismantles cigarette factory in Mexico
The Mexican Attorney General's Office (FGR) has conducted significant operations against illegal goods and counterfeit production. In Veracruz, authorities destroyed nearly five tons of seized items, the majority of which consisted of over four tons of pirated DVDs and CDs. The destruction also included narcotics such as marijuana, methamphetamine, and cocaine, along with slot machines and various other seized objects.
In a separate operation in Huixquilucan, State of Mexico, the FGR dismantled a factory dedicated to the production of counterfeit cigarettes. Preliminary estimates suggest this operation impacts the illicit tobacco market by between 225 and 330 million pesos. The raid, supported by the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) and the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), uncovered not only finished products but also industrial machinery, tobacco, filters, and packaging materials, indicating a large-scale clandestine production and distribution network within the Mexico City Metropolitan Area.
