Mexican FGR operations against illicit goods and precursors

Overview

The Mexican Attorney General's Office (FGR) has conducted a series of operations aimed at dismantling illicit markets and weakening organized crime supply chains.

In early October, authorities focused on counterfeit goods and narcotics. In Veracruz, officials destroyed nearly five tons of seized items, including over four tons of pirated media and various narcotics such as cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana. Concurrently, in Huixquilucan, the FGR, supported by the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) and the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), dismantled a large-scale counterfeit cigarette factory. This operation targeted a clandestine network with an estimated impact on the illicit tobacco market of between 225 and 330 million pesos.

By mid-October, the FGR expanded its destruction efforts to include chemical precursors and other harmful substances. In an operation managed by the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor's Office (FECOR) in Durango but executed in the State of Mexico, authorities destroyed approximately 31,857 liters of chemical precursors and over 25 tons of substances linked to criminal investigations. The operation also resulted in the destruction of 1,246 criminal objects, including drums and sacks, as part of a coordinated effort across three levels of government to disrupt organized crime structures.
