Făgăraș Mountains rescue operations involve helicopter evacuations

Multiple rescue operations have taken place in the Făgăraș Mountains involving mountain rescue teams from Argeș and Sibiu.

A 17-year-old boy was found unconscious at Șaua Lăițel while hiking from Bâlea toward Călțun. He was breathing and was eventually extracted via helicopter hoist by a SMURD unit from Târgu Mureș. Preliminary reports suggest the loss of consciousness may have been caused by physical exertion.

In a separate incident near Viștea Mare, two young men, aged 18 and 21, required assistance due to medical issues. One individual suffered a spinal problem that prevented movement, while the other sustained a dislocation. They were eventually airlifted by a SMURD helicopter to Victoria for further medical care.
