FIA publishes 2027 Formula 1 technical regulations, boosting hybrid power
The FIA released the complete 278‑page technical rulebook for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The new regulations raise the maximum capacity of the internal‑combustion engine and increase the output of the hybrid energy‑recovery system, allowing more fuel energy and higher battery‑usable energy per lap. Additional changes introduce speed‑dependent power‑delivery modes, simplify floor‑area aerodynamics, tighten component‑flexibility tests and raise the minimum driver weight, including ballast, to 82 kg. Safety‑related requirements were also adjusted to make the rules easier to apply.
A separate glossary of technical terms used in FIA update documents was prepared to help fans understand the complex language, defining items such as the A‑Beam Wing, brake ducts, diffusers, floor boards, and other aerodynamic and cooling components that appear in the technical updates.
