Pierre Gasly's Monaco podium restored after FIA penalty reversal

The FIA accepted Alpine’s Right‑of‑Review and rescinded two five‑second time penalties imposed on Pierre Gasly for alleged pit‑lane speeding at the Monaco Grand Prix. The stewards found that the distance used by the official timing system was 77 cm shorter than assumed, causing the calculated speeds to be overstated. Consequently, Gasly’s average speed was within the 60 km/h limit, and his penalties were annulled, reinstating him to third place. Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar, who had been promoted to the podium, fell back to fourth, while other drivers such as Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad also lost a position in the final order. Alpine praised the FIA’s transparency, noting the new evidence provided by Formula One Management that corrected the measurement error. The decision alters the drivers’ championship points, giving Gasly an additional 35 points and reducing Hadjar’s total, and it highlights concerns over the reliability of pit‑lane speed monitoring.
