FIA to decide by mid‑September on WRC season finale in Saudi Arabia
The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) said a final decision on holding the World Rally Championship (WRC) season‑ending rally in Saudi Arabia will be made by mid‑September. The event, scheduled for 11‑14 November, is under review as the FIA monitors the escalating conflict in the Middle East, including renewed hostilities after a cease‑fire collapse between Iran and the US/Israel coalition.
FIA road‑sport director Emilia Abel explained that the body is working closely with the rally promoter and manufacturer teams to assess logistical implications. While the FIA hopes the Saudi rally can proceed as planned, it acknowledges that the security situation could change rapidly, potentially requiring contingency arrangements.
The uncertainty mirrors recent calendar changes in other series, such as the World Endurance Championship replacing its Middle‑East rounds with events in Barcelona and Monza.
