FIA to hear Monaco Grand Prix podium appeal in Paris

The FIA International Court of Appeal will convene in Paris on August 25 to hear appeals from Red Bull Racing and McLaren regarding the final classifications of the Monaco Grand Prix. The dispute stems from a technical error in the FIA's timing and telemetry loop calibration, which resulted in incorrect pit-lane speed measurements.

Following a Right of Review, Alpine successfully overturned time penalties for Pierre Gasly, reinstating his third-place podium finish after proving the speed-trap data was flawed. This adjustment caused a chain reaction, stripping Isack Hadjar of his inherited podium position.

Red Bull and McLaren are challenging the fairness of the administrative process. They argue that while Gasly's time-added penalty could be appealed, other drivers—including Oscar Piastri, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, and Franco Colapinto—who served pit-lane speeding penalties during the race were unable to appeal or have their penalties removed. The hearing will be held behind closed doors, with the final decision to be published afterward.
