Fiat Argo X nears Brazilian debut following spy photo sightings

Fiat is entering the final testing phases for the new Argo X, which is expected to debut in the Brazilian market between late September and early October. Spy photos of camouflaged prototypes have been spotted on the roads of Minas Gerais, indicating that the model is nearing its official presentation.

Built on Stellantis’ Smart Car platform—a derivative of the CMP platform used for the Citroën C3 and Jeep Avenger—the Argo X will be produced at the Fiat plant in Betim. The vehicle is designed as a compact crossover, blending elements of the European Grande Panda with specific adaptations for the Brazilian market. It is expected to compete with models such as the Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet Onix, and Hyundai HB20.

The engine lineup is anticipated to include a 1.0 Firefly naturally aspirated engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission, as well as a 1.0 Turboflex mild hybrid version producing approximately 85 kW (116 CV). The hybrid option is a strategic move to align with Brazil’s Mover program tax incentives. The model will likely be offered in Drive, Audace, and Impetus trim levels.
