Fiat considers production of Multiplay concept vehicle
Fiat is evaluating the possibility of bringing its Multiplay concept into serial production, potentially as early as 2029. Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the 4.45-meter vehicle is a hybrid design combining elements of an MPV, an SUV, and a pick-up.
Arnaud Belloni, the new head of Fiat, has expressed strong support for the project, noting that a dedicated family vehicle is a priority for the brand. While official press releases initially described the Multiplay as a mobility laboratory rather than a confirmed production model, Belloni emphasized that the concept is “of exceptional importance” and has “absolute clear sense” for the company’s lineup.
The concept features a ‘Metamorfosi’ architecture, allowing the rear module to transform the vehicle from a seven-seat family carrier into a four-seat pick-up with an open load bed. Other innovative features include a ‘Petsenger’ seating unit for children or pets and a rear spoiler that functions as a bicycle rack. Design chief François Leboine views the concept as a precursor to a ‘post-SUV’ era, focusing on interior flexibility and practicality.
