Fiat introduces hybrid technology to Toro pickup in Brazil
Fiat is updating its Toro pickup line to include mild hybrid (MHEV) technology, specifically for the 2027 model year. The Volcano MHEV T270 and Ultra versions will feature a 48V system designed to assist the 1.3 Turbo Flex T270 engine.
This hybrid system replaces the alternator and starter motor with an electric motor/generator connected to the combustion engine via a belt. The technology provides up to 15.5 hp and 6.6 kgfm of torque during acceleration and low-speed maneuvers. The implementation aims to meet Proconve L8 emission standards and may offer consumer benefits such as tax reductions or exemption from vehicle rotation schemes in certain regions.
