Fiat confirms Argo X launch in Brazil, current Argo to stay in line

Fiat announced the name and launch plan for the Argo X, a new compact hatchback for the Brazilian market. The model was unveiled by Stellantis South‑America president Herlander Zola during the brand’s 50‑year celebration at the Betim plant and is scheduled for a 2026 release, likely in the third or fourth quarter. The Argo X is derived from the European Grande Panda platform and will be built at the Betim facility, featuring a 1.0 Firefly naturally aspirated engine and a 1.0 Turbo Flex 200 MHEV delivering 71 hp and 116 hp respectively, alongside a 12‑volt mild‑hybrid system, digital cockpit, six airbags and ADAS safety functions.

Fiat also clarified that the existing Argo will continue production alongside the Argo X, adopting a strategy that keeps the current model on the market as long as customer demand exists. The rollout is part of a broader investment plan of R$ 32 billion for South America, with R$ 14 billion earmarked for the Betim plant, and includes five new model launches by 2030, one each year. The Argo X is positioned to sustain Fiat’s leadership in Brazil’s hatch segment, where the Argo ranked among the top‑selling models with more than 46 000 units sold in early 2026 and over 102 000 units in 2025.
