Fiat loses ground to Audi in Italy's recent used car market

Fiat maintains its leadership in the Italian used car market, but its dominance is shifting toward older vehicles. According to an analysis by AutoUncle, Fiat held approximately 11% of the total market share for used cars sold by dealers in the second quarter of 2026, leading Audi and Volkswagen.

However, the data reveals a significant decline in Fiat's presence among more recent models. While Fiat captures about 17% of the market for vehicles over 15 years old, its share drops to 11% for cars aged six to ten years, 8% for those three to five years old, and only 7% for vehicles less than three years old.

In contrast, Audi has achieved a historic milestone by overtaking Fiat in the more recent used car segment. For vehicles registered from 2016 onwards, Audi secured a 9% market share. This shift is attributed to historical new car registration trends, as Fiat's market share for new car registrations has declined from roughly 24% between 2005 and 2010 to approximately 10% in the 2024-2026 period.
