Field fires burn agricultural land and close roads in France
A field fire on July 13 near Xaffévillers in the Vosges department burned about three hectares of crops along the D414 road. Nineteen firefighters from several nearby towns contained the blaze and temporarily closed a section of the road, preventing further spread toward a nearby woodland. No injuries were reported.
Two days earlier, on July 11, a separate fire erupted between Iville and Amfreville‑Saint‑Amand in the Eure department, consuming roughly five hectares of farmland. Twelve firefighters, assisted by two de‑chaffers, halted the fire's advance to adjacent fields and closed the RD 840 to traffic until the blaze was controlled. Both incidents reflect a surge in agricultural fires amid hot, dry conditions in France.
