Fier prosecutors arrest former cadastre director in land fraud probe

The Fier Prosecutor's Office has arrested a former director of the State Cadastre Agency (ASHK) and a property beneficiary following an investigation into the illegal registration of real estate in the Levan area. A former cartographer has also been ordered to appear before judicial police.

The suspects are accused of document falsification, fraud, money laundering, and abuse of office. The investigation centers on the illegal registration of approximately 71.7 hectares of land, linked to a 2008 decision by the Agency for Return and Compensation of Property regarding 100 hectares of agricultural land in Levan and Dërmenas.

During the investigation, authorities seized approximately 716,000 euros from a bank account, along with documents and electronic devices. Prosecutors are currently verifying transactions made involving several properties following their registration.
