FIFA approves Normalisation Committee for Nigeria Football Federation
FIFA has approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to oversee the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and manage the transition to new elections. The committee will be appointed jointly by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The mandate of the committee will expire once its tasks are completed, but no later than May 31, 2027. While the identities of the members have not yet been announced, the committee is tasked with addressing administrative challenges and facilitating the election of a new executive committee.
The decision follows a leadership crisis in August when the NFF board resigned en masse following various failures in national team performances. During the interim period before the committee is seated, the NFF Secretariat will continue to manage the day-to-day administration of football in Nigeria.
