Nigerian sports federation administrative interventions
Overview
Following leadership crises and board dissolutions, international and national sports bodies have intervened to manage various Nigerian sports federations.
In the Nigeria Judo Federation, the National Sports Commission appointed a six-member caretaker committee to oversee administration and implement reforms. This committee is tasked with amending the federation’s constitution to meet International Judo Federation requirements and organizing fresh elections.
Similarly, FIFA and the Confederation of African Football have approved a Normalisation Committee for the Nigeria Football Federation. This follows the mass resignation of the NFF board in August. The committee is mandated to address administrative challenges and facilitate the election of a new executive committee by May 31, 2027.
