FIFA Foundation pledges $1 million for Venezuela earthquake relief

The FIFA Foundation announced a US$1 million allocation from its Humanitarian Fund to support communities in Venezuela affected by the double earthquake on 24 June. The donation was disclosed by Mauricio Macri, executive president of the Foundation, and backed by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who emphasized football’s ability to unite people in crisis.

The aid will be directed to emergency assistance, reconstruction projects and local humanitarian organisations operating in the hardest‑hit areas, especially the state of La Guaira. The earthquakes caused 4,333 deaths, 16,740 injuries and over 31,000 people have received medical care. During the World Cup, moments of silence and messages of support were observed in matches to honour the victims.
