FILEM 2026 concludes in Estado de México

The twelfth edition of the Estado de México International Book Fair (FILEM 2026) has concluded after nine days of activities. Operating under the theme “Más autoras, más mundos” (More authors, more worlds), this edition focused heavily on female voices, including authors, editors, and illustrators, discussing topics such as feminism, identity, memory, and social realities.

To increase accessibility, the fair expanded its reach beyond Toluca, hosting programming at 12 alternative venues, including UAEMéx university centers in Tenancingo and Amecameca. The event brought together writers, publishers, researchers, and students, while also serving as a community gathering point for families and various age groups.

Cynthia Ortega Salgado, Secretary of Identity and Culture of UAEMéx, noted that a primary goal was to bring cultural activities closer to different regions of the state. Organizers also used the event to encourage reading as a way to pause and reflect in an era of rapid digital information consumption.
