Filenin Sultanları to receive state rewards after European Championship win

The Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team, known as ‘Filenin Sultanları’, has secured its second consecutive European Championship title after defeating Italy 3-2 in the final held at the Sinan Erdem Sports Hall in Istanbul.

Following the victory, the specific state rewards for the athletes have been determined based on the ‘Regulation on Rewarding Those Who Demonstrate Superior Success in Sports Services and Activities’. Because the tournament is held every two years, the regulation stipulates that athletes receive 75% of the maximum award. This results in 112.5 Republic gold coins per athlete. Based on a valuation of approximately 44,500 TL per gold coin, each player is set to receive roughly 5,015,000 TL.

Head coach Daniel Santarelli is eligible for 30 Republic gold coins, valued at approximately 1,343,000 TL. While the Turkish Volleyball Federation is also expected to distribute championship bonuses, the scale of the state rewards has sparked discussion on social media, with some comparing the amounts to the bonuses received by the Men's National Football Team.
