Turkey women's volleyball European Championship preparation
Overview
The Turkish women’s national volleyball team is preparing for the 2026 CEV Women’s European Championship, which the country is co-hosting alongside Czechia, Azerbaijan, and Sweden. The tournament is scheduled to run from 21 August to 6 September 2026.
As the team concluded a training camp at the Gloria Sports Arena in Antalya Belek, officials expressed ambitions to pair a potential European Championship victory with an FIVB Nations League title. Head coach Daniele Santarelli, who confirmed his commitment to working in Turkey through the end of the Olympic cycle, has also advocated for changes to foreign player regulations in the Sultanlar Ligi to improve domestic competition levels. The roster faces a setback with the absence of star opposite Ebrar Karakurt, who will miss the tournament due to bone-marrow edema and fluid accumulation in the sacroiliac joint.
Turkey, the defending 2023 European champions, will host several matches, including Group A fixtures, at the Sinan Erdem Sports Hall in Istanbul. The tournament features 24 national teams divided into four groups. While group stages are held across the four host nations, the final stages—including the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final on 6 September—will be held in Istanbul. Turkey is scheduled to open its group stage match against Latvia on 21 August 2026 at 19:00. Following the opening match, Turkey’s group stage schedule includes games against Slovenia, Hungary, Germany, and Poland. Mastercard has joined the event as a presenting sponsor, a partnership CEV President Roko Sikiri noted reflects the “growing international status and commercial appeal of EuroVolley.”
