Filharmonia Pomorska begins 380 million PLN expansion in Bydgoszcz

Expansion and modernization works have begun at the Filharmonia Pomorska in Bydgoszcz. The project, valued at 380 million PLN and primarily funded by the provincial budget, is expected to be completed in three years.

The development will integrate modern architectural solutions and immersive sound technology with the existing mid-century neoclassical building. A key feature of the expansion is a new underground chamber concert hall located beneath Krzysztof Penderecki Square. This hall will accommodate 350 spectators and include a stage for a chamber orchestra and a 30-person choir, supported by professional lighting and sound systems.

The new hall will utilize advanced digital signal processing and immersive audio technology to provide high-fidelity acoustic experiences. While the construction requires the musicians of the Filharmonia Pomorska Symphony Orchestra and the Capella Bydgostiensis to perform at alternative venues, the institution continues to hold concerts both within and outside of Bydgoszcz.
