Filip Vujanović clarifies ownership status of training ship Jadran
Former Montenegrin President Filip Vujanović has addressed the ownership dispute regarding the training ship ‘Jadran’. Speaking on the status of the vessel following Montenegro's 2006 independence referendum, Vujanović stated that during a June 2006 meeting, former Serbian President Boris Tadić expressed Serbia's expectation that the ship belong to Serbia due to its historical funding by the Karađorđević dynasty.
Vujanović maintained that all assets between Montenegro and Serbia were divided based on the territorial principle, meaning the ship belongs to Montenegro. To respect Serbian traditions, such as laying wreaths at the ‘Blue Tomb’, Vujanović proposed a protocol where the ship would fly both the Montenegrin flag as the owner and the Serbian flag as the user. He noted that Tadić accepted this stance after consulting with Serbian authorities, though no formal written document was produced.
