Filippo Nasca appointed head of Sicily's Extraregional Affairs department
Filippo Nasca has been appointed director general of the Department of Extraregional Affairs of the Presidency of the Sicilian Region. The regional council approved the nomination on the proposal of President Renato Schifani. Nasca holds a law degree, is a qualified attorney, and previously served as director general of the Regional Pension Fund, president of the board of the Sicilian Highway Consortium and a board member of Servizi Ausiliari Sicilia.
He replaces Margherita Rizza, who had been acting in the role on an interim basis. Giovanni Cucchiara, currently director general of the Mediterranean Fisheries department, will temporarily lead the Authority for auditing EU co‑financed programmes, remaining in that interim position until a permanent replacement is named. The council also authorised the start of a selection process for a new director of the Fisheries department, a two‑year appointment, and extended the term of agriculture director Fulvio Bellomo until 30 September 2027.
