Film and art festivals announced in Jalisco and Castilla-La Mancha

The first edition of the Jalisco Intercultural Film and Art Festival (FICAJALI) has been officially announced for Tepatitlán. Scheduled to run from December 1 to 5, the event aims to strengthen local culture, promote tourism, and boost regional consumption through various artistic disciplines including cinematography, painting, photography, dance, and singing.

Creative director Dante Mercado noted that the festival serves as a meeting point for creators and the public. While calls for singing and dancing have closed, applications for photography, painting, and cinematography remain open until October 30. A jury featuring María González, Horacio Alcalá, and Eduardo Castellanos will select works from around the world.

In Spain, the 24th edition of the Guadalajara Committed Film Festival (FESCIGU) has launched in Azuqueca de Henares. This year's edition focuses on the theme of addiction and features a record-breaking 30 short films in its official section. The festival, which runs until October 10, has sparked political discussion regarding its future venue. Pablo Bellido, president of the Cortes of Castilla-La Mancha, suggested a “double residence” model to maintain the festival's historical ties to Guadalajara capital while continuing its current stage in Azuqueca de Henares.
