Film festivals open in Croatia and Serbia

On July 6, the cultural programme ‘Misto za film’ in Sinj, Croatia, presented a free screening of the Irish comedy‑drama *Bilo jednom u kinu* (2026). The film, starring Colin Morgan, Calam Lynch, Niamh Cusack and India Mullen, follows a cinema owner dealing with nightly complications. The event was co‑financed by the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media, the National Foundation for Civil Society Development and the City of Sinj.

Later the same week, Bašta Fest held its 13th edition in Bajina Bašta, Serbia, opening with 26 films from 24 countries. Actor Jovan Jelisavić and actor‑director Ognjen Mićović welcomed the audience, emphasizing the festival’s role in supporting young filmmakers. The programme includes competition sections, awards from a juried panel, and free screenings at the Vlaja cinema. The festival also features educational activities and live music alongside the film screenings.
