Film ‘Jikyu 300-en no Shinigami’ releases full trailer

The full trailer for the film ‘Jikyu 300-en no Shinigami’ (The Reaper with an Hourly Wage of 300 Yen) has been released ahead of its October 2 release. Based on the novel by Maru Fuji, the fantasy story follows Shinji Sakura (played by Daigo Nishihata), a college student in despair, who is recruited by his classmate Yuki Hanamori (played by Riko Fukumoto) for a mysterious part-time job as a ‘reaper.’

The role involves assisting the souls of the deceased in fulfilling their final wishes to help them move on to the afterlife. The trailer features the song ‘Shin-kai’ by HY and highlights the emotional connections between the reaper duo and the various people they encounter.

Actress Manami Satsukawa, who plays Kana Hirooka—a woman who dies shortly after childbirth—discussed her experience working with director Mai Sakai. Satsukawa praised Sakai’s leadership and ability to create an environment that allows actors to express genuine emotions, noting that the director’s guidance helped her navigate the complex, conflicted nature of her character.
