Search operations continue following the sinking of the high-speed passenger vessel Filo Jet off the coast of Girne. The accident occurred on August 30 while the ship was traveling between Girne Port and Taşucu Port in Mersin.

Following the vessel taking on water and capsizing during an attempt to return to port, 239 people were rescued. However, the death toll has risen as search teams recover bodies from the seabed. The Prime Ministry of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus reported that one additional body was recovered, bringing the total number of confirmed deceased to 24.
