FINABIEN registers 1,699 women artisans in Michoacán for ApoyArte credit program

Financiera para el Bienestar (FINABIEN) registered 1,699 women artisans from Purépecha, Nahua, Afromexicano, Mazahua‑Otomí and Pirinda communities in Michoacán for the ApoyArte credit scheme. The registration took place between 15 and 25 July in six locations: Pátzcuaro (751 registrations), Aquila (60), Zitácuaro (465), Tuxpan (147), Huetamo (171) and Morelia (105).

The effort was coordinated with the Instituto Nacional de los Pueblos Indígenas (INPI) and the Secretaría de Bienestar, providing digital registration, document validation, technical training on credit use and responsible repayment. The initiative is part of the Plan Michoacán por la Paz y la Justicia, promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum, aiming to strengthen economic development and financial inclusion for indigenous women artisans.
