Square Enix Sets Release Date for Final Fantasy Resonance on Oct 22 2026
Square Enix announced Final Fantasy Resonance, the first HD‑2D‑styled entry in the long‑running franchise. The game is slated for launch on 22 October 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC and also legacy consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One. It reimagines the mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius with classic turn‑based combat, a new “Visions” system that summons iconic characters like Cloud, Tidus, Cecil, Bartz, Squall, Zidane and others, and powerful Espers that stay on the field for three turns.
The trailer highlighted the HD‑2D pixel‑art aesthetic, airships, Chocobos, massive bosses and dungeon exploration. New locations such as the industrial city Dilmagia and the water‑rich capital Olderion were revealed, along with characters Lid, Mechabo and strategist Nichol. Gameplay replaces the original gacha mechanic with dedicated vision dungeons, and a “Resonance” attack triggers when all enemies are defeated in a single turn. Square Enix opened digital pre‑orders for Standard and Deluxe editions on the Nintendo eShop. The main story is expected to take 30‑40 hours, with full completion reaching 60‑80 hours.
