Final Fantasy XIV to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4 2026

Square Enix announced that its flagship MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on 4 August 2026. Pre‑orders are live on the Nintendo eShop, with three launch editions – Starter (€19.99), Complete (€59.99, €41.99 pre‑order) and Collector’s (€139.99, €97.99 pre‑order). All players receive a free‑month trial to help stabilise servers; thereafter a separate monthly subscription is required, but existing subscribers on other platforms get a 50 % discount and no Nintendo Switch Online membership is needed.

The announcement also confirmed the sixth expansion, Evercold, scheduled for January 2027. Evercold introduces a new tank job called Bastion, which wields a pair of shape‑changing greatshields called skyltborg, new explorable areas such as the water‑bound continent‑ship Naglfar and the fire‑bound Hringhorni, and expanded character‑customisation options. Crossover content includes an Evangelion raid series and a Final Fantasy VII Remake‑themed “Beyond the Lifestream” raid series.
