Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa Reviews Sekolah Rakyat Program in Surabaya

Indonesia's Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa visited the integrated Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) in Surabaya on 1 August 2026 to inspect the use of state funds. The tour included checks of classrooms, dormitories, furniture, ventilation and overall readiness of facilities serving 270 students from primary to senior high school levels.

The visit aimed to verify that the program—one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority initiatives funded through the state budget (APBN)—is delivering free, quality education to children from low‑income families selected via the PKH scheme. Purbaya stressed the Ministry of Finance’s role in ensuring proper budget absorption and highlighted the program’s contribution to Indonesia’s Vision 2045 of human‑resource development.
