Mastercard launches Global Money Platform to integrate fiat and stablecoins

Mastercard and BVNK have launched the Mastercard Global Money Platform, a modular infrastructure designed to integrate fiat currencies and stablecoins through a single API. This launch follows Mastercard’s August 2026 acquisition of BVNK for approximately $1.8 billion.

The platform features a “global money account” that allows banks, fintechs, and enterprises to hold, exchange, and manage both traditional currencies and stablecoins simultaneously. Users can utilize stablecoin balances for payments via Mastercard’s global merchant network or convert them into local currency for bank transfers through the Mastercard Move network, which connects to over 17 billion endpoints.

Initial integration partners include Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Beem, and Almond FinTech. The service is designed to be modular, allowing businesses to adopt specific functions such as sending, receiving, or storing funds as needed. Mastercard plans to expand the platform’s reach to over 40 currencies and 200 countries and territories by 2027, with card issuing capabilities available in more than 130 countries.
