Financial literacy and savings trends show gaps in Spain and Argentina

A study by Mapfre reveals that 70% of Spaniards save money regularly, though significant gaps exist based on gender and age. While the overall average monthly saving is 265 euros, men save an average of 306 euros compared to 236 euros for women. The report notes that 21% of savers concentrate approximately half of all savings in Spain, contributing over 400 euros monthly.

In Argentina, the rise of fintech has simplified access to credit, with over 7 million people utilizing these services. However, financial literacy remains a challenge, as 72% of users do not fully understand how interest rates function. This lack of understanding coincides with rising irregularity in fintech loan repayments, which reached 34.1% for personal loans from non-financial providers.

Both regions highlight the distinction between financial access and true financial inclusion. While technology increases autonomy, experts suggest that innovation must ensure risks remain visible and that users possess the necessary knowledge to manage debt and savings effectively.
