Financial literacy gaps identified in Brazil survey

A survey conducted by IPESPE for the Febraban Observatory reveals a significant gap in financial literacy in Brazil. While 91% of 3,000 respondents consider financial education important for personal and professional life, 55% reported understanding little to nothing about the subject. Regarding family involvement, 54% of respondents stated they have discussed finances with children or adolescents.

To address the need for early financial management, BTG has introduced the 'Conta Jovem' (Youth Account). This service allows young people to receive funds, make payments via Pix, consult balances, and save money, while providing parents with tools to monitor spending and set limits through a mobile application. The account includes a no-fee debit card with contactless payment capabilities and access to the Banco24Horas network.

Effective financial planning involves organizing income, expenses, debts, and goals to guide money usage over time. Key practices include mapping fixed and variable expenses, setting specific goals with deadlines, and maintaining regular budget reviews through tools like spreadsheets or applications to ensure financial decisions align with personal reality.
