Fincantieri and Viking sign contracts for two new cruise ships

Fincantieri and Viking have signed contracts for the construction of two new cruise ships, expanding their ongoing partnership to a total of 28 vessels. The new ships will be built at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy, with deliveries scheduled for 2032.

The vessels are designed for the small cruise ship segment, featuring a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 and a capacity for 998 passengers across 499 cabins. The agreement, described as having a high value between USD 550 million and USD 1.1 billion, is subject to financing and other conditions. The ships will be constructed in compliance with current environmental regulations and advanced navigation and safety standards.

This order follows previous contracts for expedition vessels and reinforces Viking’s fleet expansion program. Fincantieri CEO Pierroberto Folgiero noted that the assignment to the Ancona facility supports local high-value employment and ensures long-term industrial continuity for the company's supply chain.
