Fincantieri maritime shipbuilding developments

Overview

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has engaged in several major maritime projects involving both new contracts and vessel completions.

In August 2026, Fincantieri and Viking signed contracts for two new small-segment cruise ships to be built at the Ancona shipyard, with deliveries expected in 2032. The agreement, valued between USD 550 million and USD 1.1 billion, expands their partnership to 28 vessels.

Concurrently, the company completed the delivery of the ‘Costanza I di Sicilia’, a hybrid electric Ro-Pax ferry for the Caronte and Tourist Group, and launched the ‘Oceania Sonata’. The latter is the first of a new class for Oceania Cruises and is scheduled for delivery in 2027.
