Fincantieri boosts defence with Croatian corvette MoUs and €600 m underwater acquisitions

Fincantieri signed two Memoranda of Understanding with Croatian shipyards Brodotrogir Cruise and Iskra Shipyard to participate in Croatia’s Multi‑Role Corvette (MRC) programme. The agreements, signed in the presence of senior executives from both sides, aim to combine Fincantieri’s naval design expertise with local industrial capabilities, fostering joint design, engineering and construction work and strengthening the Croatian maritime defence ecosystem.

In a separate strategic move, the Italian shipbuilder announced a €600 million package to acquire controlling stakes in four underwater‑technology companies – Next Geosolutions, WSense, Graal Tech and Defcomm. The deals create a fully vertically integrated underwater operator serving commercial, offshore‑energy and defence markets, and are expected to more than double the underwater business’s revenue to over €1.1 billion in 2026 while raising group EBITDA by about 13%. The acquisitions extend Fincantieri’s presence across Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway and the United Arab Emirates, reinforcing its role in protecting critical subsea infrastructure such as pipelines and undersea communications cables.
