Finistère: Vandalism targets Parisian tourists in Brittany

Several tourists from the Île-de-France region reported instances of vandalism to their vehicles in southern Finistère, Brittany, this summer. The incidents involved cars being scratched and targeted with hostile messages such as “Parigot, dehors” (Get out, Parisian) and “Non aux Parisiens” (No to Parisians).

The acts were concentrated in areas including Plobannalec-Lesconil, Penmarc'h, and Plogoff. In one instance, a message in English was also observed stating, “Tourists go home, refugees welcome.”

Local officials, including Plobannalec-Lesconil Mayor Loïc Le Fur, have condemned the actions, stating that the spirit of such acts is deeply shocking and emphasizing that the commune remains open and welcoming. However, local leaders noted that the region, which attracts approximately 15 million tourists annually, is facing significant pressure and saturation due to the high volume of visitors.
