Finland bolsters NATO defense with F-35 components and jet order
Finland is significantly strengthening its military capabilities and its role within NATO by integrating into the F-35 international supply chain. The Finnish defense company Patria completed the assembly of its first F135 engine on September 3, marking a major milestone in the country's contribution to the F-35 program.
As part of its defense buildup following its 2023 accession to NATO, Finland has ordered 64 F-35A fighter jets from the American defense contractor Lockheed Martin. The first of these aircraft are scheduled to arrive in Finland within the current year. This expansion of the Finnish Air Force is intended to enhance military deterrence along the border with Russia.
