Finland expects above‑average blueberry harvest, weaker lingonberry season

The Natural Resources Institute (Luke) reports that Finland's blueberry crop is shaping up to be better than usual, with the first berries ready for picking in early July. Expert Rainer Peltola notes that favorable weather and good pollination have supported the early development, while excessive rain or cold would hinder pollinator activity.

In contrast, lingonberry (puolukka) flowering is at a normal level but weaker than last year, potentially limiting that harvest. The institute also highlights a long strawberry season, upcoming raspberry and gooseberry crops, and the introduction of honey‑berry as a new fruit variety. Overall plant‑growth conditions are favourable across most regions, though some areas still need more rain.
