Finland faces weekend summer storm with heavy rain and strong winds

The Finnish Meteorological Institute warns that a low‑pressure system will move across Finland from Friday to Sunday, bringing a summer storm that will affect the entire country. Rainfall is expected to range from 5‑20 mm in most areas, with some locations receiving up to 30‑40 mm, while temperatures will vary between 10 °C in the north and 20 °C in the south.

Foreca forecasts wind gusts that may exceed 15 m s⁻¹, especially along the western coast, with the possibility of wind‑related damage. The storm will also bring occasional thunderstorms and strong gusts on Sunday morning. By Sunday afternoon the weather is expected to gradualy clear in the south and central regions.
